Asher Milgrom — the youngest of four siblings — was born in Virginia to Josephine, a professor of the theology of art, and Jacob, a rabbi and world-renowned Bible scholar. His childhood home was a crossroads for some of the great scholars and thinkers of the 20th century, from clergy to existential philosophers to particle physicists. Basking in that celebration of the mind, he learned early that thought was the antidote to boredom, and curiosity the seed of knowledge.
From oceanography to medicine
His college years were an assemblage of explorations — from automotive mechanics to pioneering in-situ marine-biology research as a staff research associate at the Scripps Institution of Oceanography. He supported himself working as a cantor and teaching adult courses in Judaic philosophy and mysticism, before venturing into medicine.
A near-death experience
Asher received a full scholarship to an M.D./Ph.D. program at the University of Health Sciences and the University of Chicago’s Pritzker School of Medicine, studying neuro-biochemistry. At the very end of his training, a rare brain infection put him in a coma. He survived completely intact, and — having “touched the face of God and lived” — emerged with a transformed perspective. Shortly after, he chose to leave the practice of medicine to develop its science.
Scientist, inventor, entrepreneur
In 1999 Asher founded and funded American Medical Aesthetics & Wellness (AMA Regenerative Medicine & Skincare). He is the principal architect of its business strategy and the principal scientist behind its medical protocols. With Dr. Pien, he developed holistic “multiple-modality” protocols that produce extraordinary clinical results with minimal downtime, and pioneered the integration of Physiological Regulating Medicine into proprietary laser protocols. He is the inventor of the Hemodynamic Swirling Apparatus (HSA-2000), patent pending, for use with hyperbaric ozone therapy.
