Dr. Pien earned her medical degree from SUNY Buffalo School of Medicine after graduating Cum Laude in Pharmaceutical Sciences from the University at Buffalo’s School of Pharmacy. She completed her residency at UC Irvine and Children’s Hospital of Orange County, served as Chief Resident at UCI, and went on to direct ER Pediatric Trauma at Western Medical Center.
In 1998 she began studying complementary and alternative medicine — mind-body medicine first, then certification in hypnotherapy with Dr. Brian Weiss, author of Many Lives, Many Masters . That turn toward the whole patient would come to define her practice.
A pioneer of laser energy medicine
Dr. Pien is the Medical Director of American Medical Aesthetics & Wellness (AMA Regenerative Medicine & Skincare), which she co-founded with her husband, Dr. Asher Milgrom, in 1999. Together they pioneered the use of lasers as an “energy medicine” — using them to holistically induce physiological changes that reverse the skin’s aging process — and built comprehensive, multi-modality protocols grounded in rigorous empirical science.
Giving back
Dr. Pien has volunteered her skills with groups providing healthcare in underserved nations — assessing children for surgical conditions in Grenada, and traveling to India, Armenia and Vietnam with Arpan Global Charities. With her pilot husband, she flies with the Flying Samaritans to deliver medical aid to isolated settlements in Mexico.
